Well Varly has played out of his mind so far and Giguere is the back up of a team loaded with goalie prospects, sooooooooooo doubtful

Because the Avs stubbornly refuse to televise their pre-season games your analysis is the only window I get into how the game went. Thanks for putting this up and letting us know how the prospects and regulars look.

It was Jiggy's first start so not too worrying. I love how Malone is doing well but he's in tough to make the team as a regular. Still with the Avs you can always be fairly certain someone will get hurt and Malone will get his shot.

Soon as the Avs hit 3 posts I knew Dallas would score the first goal

Aittokallio is looking like he could handle some backup duties soon, this could be Gigueres final year with the Avs

Also why do I have this suspicious feeling Varly will be a top 5 tender this year...he is going to pull a Bobrovsky and Bryzgalov, those russian goalies like to be lights out during your contact year, then chill out after cashing in

Hopefully, He WAS a good Goalie for the Ducks. Time for him to go enjoy the millions he made and stop turning his lasting image into that of a washed up backup.

I did love Dater trying to Troll on twitter, brining up the why did we keep Hunwick and demote Bigras convo. He is not that stupid of a hockey guy, he just loves to get negetive feedback/wars with his followers.

Looks like we finally have something in Bigras and Seimens, need them to reach max potential so no rushing them.

But Hunwick needs to go, he better be healthy scratched/minors for the season, he is such a bum. I would give Holden a shot over Hunny

Its hard to bash Giggy bc he has been nothing but a professional and solid member of the organization/leader. His best playing days are behind him, but I say let him enjoy his last season playing for his Idol and favorite goalie coach.

He will join the avs in some sort of capacity later on, he moved his family to denver, I can see him stickign around for a while.

I agree man, we need to move on from the Hunwick Experience he is just NOT what we need. We already have two smaller D playing Barrie and Benoit, and they bring this crazy thing called "talent" plus they can both QB a PP like small Dmen are historically expected to do. Hunwick is terrible offensively, terrible defensively and needs to play elsewhere. I realize this is a subjective argument and I don't care. In tired of him patrolling our blue line lol

He just does not bring any value to this team, doesnt out play the young guys, doesnt have more talent than anyone of them, all he does is take up ice time and hinders guys like Barrie to gain experience. I think Roy will have him up in the nose bleeds for most of the year if not with the Monsters.

We got a 4th rounder for O'Bryne, I think we can dump him for the same at the deadlne, some cup team will take a chance at him for depth, thats the only good he could do for this team. Sarich could do the same if we are out of the playoff picture as well, he could get us a draft pick.

Dumping those guys by february will finally open up roster spots for guys like Seimens and Elliott, and hopefully by that time they will be dominating in the AHL.

Absolutely agree, he doesn't make our team better. I'm not even saying he can't play at the NHL level, as a 7th D playing once in a blue moon, not terrible but like you point out he doesn't help us. If w can move him for anything I hope they do it. I'm all so concerned with Sarich, with no preseason I haven't seen how he looks but I remember him looking REALLY slow in Calgary. Hopefully ha can play 15 protected mins a night, kill some penalties, help the kids and teach them what it takes to be a winner. And unlike Hunwick at least he has a ring! You can never have enough of those in the room.

Thats all I take for Sarich right now, leadership, cup winner, and a mentor to some of the kids, I can see him really leaning on Wilson, they play similar games, show him all the tricks and trades to take his game to a new level.

Thats why I wouldnt mind adding Liles to this team if we could part with Hunwick, he still has some value and will teach EJ and Barrie how to run a PP.
Liles and Barrie on one pairing, Benoit and EJ on the other.

I wouldn't hate Likes coming back to help our PP as a player but I don't like his contract and he still has two years on it. He would be great for our D this year, maybe next year but with Elliott (who I have a bunch is gonna get sent down, called up late and never look back), Seimens possibly as soon as next year, prob year after, Barrie already, Bigras prob 2 years away I don't like the idea of him holding a spot over them. I would rather see what Barrie and Benoit can do to QB the PP before knocking on that door. Plus highly likely Leafs buy him out next off season so if we really want him could probably get him for free then.

Elliott got sent down this morning, I dont mind Liles contract, Hejdas and his will run out at the same time, and Wilsons is up soon, I dont see Wilson staying long term, he is a nice player, but he is a bottom pairing guy on a good team, so in 2 years time there is a lot of change, vareity of options of who stays who goes to open up roster spots.

If we add Liles, I just think abour our core next season, with Sarich, Benoit, and Hunwick being UFAs

Liles is a small, smooth skating dman....but these type of players are available from within the organization already. The AVS need Dmen who think D first Offense 2nd. So IMHO, please pass on reaquiring LILES. Would love to find a Scott Stevens Clone somewhere out there ! !

We do have lots of those in the organization but some are not ready, Barrie is almost there and Elliott needs some work. Liles could be a mentor to them and buy some time for them to be ready. We got rid of him in the first place bc Shattenkirk was ready to take taht spot, bu we ended up tossing him away too.

I agree with you, we need a realible shut down guy, a Seabrook if we could find one, but they are not cheap. I would take a shot at meszaros from the flyers as he would be dealt easily to shed cap space.

They way Malone has been palying, I would move McLeod and Hunny for meszaros, since the flyers jsut try to add to their bottom 6 with cleary, could be an interesting package

Getting liles would be an awful idea. A waste of cap space on a player we don't need. He's nothing special and we have 5 other guys just like him. Pass

I think getting Meszaros would be a good move. They need cap, and while he'd injury prone he's in the last year of his deal sobthr risk would be small. And if he plays like he can would be a solid top 4 Dman.
